Food

Better to have too much than too little. You can always choose not to eat it all.

Gobekli Tepe would have been worth seeing - I ddn't realise you were going there.

Positively tropical this morning - only -0.9.

I'll be off to Forbes in an hour or so.

  1. I finally managed to reply to my mother a few minutes ago. The weather has started to get cooler as we are above the Syrian plain. Tomorrow we start our journey north. Last night we dined overlooking the plain, and as the lights came on, you could see clearly where the border was. There was darkness beyond it. The Turkish side was covered with lights.

I am glad i will be leaving on the fourth. The election is on the seventh. Every town is covered in bunting draped across the roads from light to light. Cars, vans and occasional buses drive past painted in the party colours and leaders picture playing music at incredible volume interspersed with slogans. Sometimes rival vans are following a few cars apart. They are louder than the mosques. This has been happening all the time i have been here but appears to be getting more frequent. Certainly the street here is so full of bunting that when you are a floor above it you can't see to the ground.
