28 Degrees

You got a statement from 28 Degrees today by post. All the charges seemed reasonable so I have scheduled it for payment in Big Sky.

Sounds like you got a better view of the military aspects for the commemoration than the people at the service would have.

  1. The trip had a bad start- the plane was an hour late and changed gates several times, someone went to order a wine and the airport roof caved in... However, the girl I went to school with is really hitting it off with me. She is a fan of the a1 Lebanese bakery and used to live in Coburg! We were in the same year and some years were in the same class but were never friends. She was an arts student so we didn't have many of the same classes later on.

The dinner tonight was at the most famous kebab shop in Gaziantep, a city known for its 2onderful food. The kebabs were fantastic and the baklava might be the best I have had.

There are some people who are up themselves, but there should be enough that it doesn't matter.

  3. Well, i tripped over today and my nose hit the pavement and immediately started to bleed furiously! Every Turk around gave serviettes, wet ones... It was very dramatic! I am OK now but it took a while for the bleeding to stop. A doctor in the group got me to squeeze it and that seems to be working.

We saw a mosaic museum today which was full of rescued mosaics (from thieves and dams) which were very good. It was interesting to compare greek, Roman and Byzantine mosaics especially with the grand palace mosaic which was considerably later. The backgrounds are all done differently and the Byzantine ones at the museum were naive rather than natural.

We also saw a very small glass museum. However most of it was not glass. Roman coins, hittite pottery, and even Neolithic figurines! In six small rooms! It is staggering what is just casually displayed around here!
