Bazaar

I've never seen a bazaar, but you're description matches the mental image I had from looking at photos of them.

I didn't know that there were 23 kinds of pistachios. I wonder if they all taste different.

Turkey's building of dams along the Euphrates and other rivers has been a source of friction with Syria and Iraq for some time, but it hasn't been the main cause of any conflict yet - at least not from what I've read.

I think I'm coming down with a cold or the 'flu - throat feels scratchy and I'm more tired than I usually am. I'll see how things develop.

  1. It was more indirect that I meant. Having dissatisfied peasants as a result of poor crops is a classic cause of civil war. And by taking away so much while the dams filled would really exacerbate the drought in Syria, leading to even poorer crops.

  2. The bazaars match my mental picture but they are so disorienting!

  3. Not sure that there are 23 varieties. They may be dried differently or picked at different times... I don't think any were salted or adulterated in some other way as they were still in their shells.
