Lost

With all your explorations while getting lost in Istanbul you'll soon be an expert on its layout!

It's a pity about the loss of all the old architecture as it will make the overall feel of the city just like anywhere else. Still, I suppose that's better than having your house collapse on you  in an earthquake.

  1. My feet are sore. They are worn out up to the knees. I walked to the architecture museum, then to the great palace mosaic (which is absolutely fantastic) museum then back home then across the bridge and up the very steep slope to the Galata tower, and up to the top of the tower, and down the hill to the bridge (I cheeted and caught the tram from there).

That side of the bridge is supposed to have really good food shops and there were some that I saw, but most of them sold hardware. One whole street had LED lighting, one had tool shops and another sold electrical wiring! And all the streets were two way but only wide enough for one car and many were very steep.

  2. I'm going to Gaziantep tomorrow so I will soon know whether the tour guide is too academic!

  3. There is a huge thunderstorm here. There has been very little rain during the trip, and what there has been was at night or while we were on the bus in the main. Even this started after we came back from tea! Hopefully it will be over by morning and I can visit topikapi palace before I need to go to the airport at two (i am meeting with the other people at 3:30).
