I didn't pay much attention to the pension changes in the budget - just enough to figure out that it wasn't going to affect us or my family.
I didn't initially see the article about roadkill, but have now looked it up. Interesting that the more central parts of Canberra have such a high number of crashes - you'd think that there would be fewer kangaroos there. Also interesting that Kambah has such a low number, given that it's boundaries are largely snake corridors, where you'd expect a higher number of kangaroos. Maybe the number of drivers in the area has something to do with it too.
Not a bad morning this morning - a bit of sun and a bit of fog and a bit of rain overnight (7.3mm). Not cold either.
Yesterday we had a wonderful day. Firstly we visited the urartian fort at ayanis. It is by the lake and the snow covered mountain range on the other side of the lake was very photogenic. Add all the wildflowers blooming (including very short stemmed iris), and you have a really beautiful scene. In van itself they still have tulips flowering but I have no pictures of them as I didn't take my camera when we went.
ReplyDeleteThe 2009 earthquake was in this region and the village below the fort was at the epicentre. Every house has a new corregated iron roof and is either new or has major structural changes. In van one fifth of the buildings collapsed and there are still many rubble filled blocks. The whole area is dusty as it was a glacier plateau.
The other site was van castle, and as it was a public holiday just about half the population of van was there picnicking. At least most of them didnt walk up to the top. The ottomans used the urartian fort as footings. Looking down from the castle you could see the lines of the old city that the russians demolished.
I have just read about the recall of airbags. It appears to have been going on for a while and to be confined to Nissan, Toyota and Honda. As my car is a sort of Nissan i wonder weather my car is affected - especially as there are so many. I can't seem to find the dates affected. Last year when the first recall happened it was for cars up to 2007, but that may have changed.
